The Raven Guard are a First Founding Space Marine Chapter renowned for their mastery of stealth, infiltration, and precision strikes. Descended from Primarch Corvus Corax, they specialize in guerrilla warfare and surgical assaults, striking from the shadows before vanishing without a trace.
Originally the XIX Legion during the Great Crusade, the Raven Guard were united with their Primarch Corax on the moon Deliverance, formerly known as Lycaeus. Corax led a slave uprising there, earning his name as “The Deliverer.” Under his leadership, the Legion adopted a doctrine of speed, stealth, and precision, favouring ambushes and sabotage over frontal assaults. This approach was codified into their combat philosophy and remains central to their identity.
The Raven Guard suffered catastrophic losses during the Drop Site Massacre on Isstvan V in the Horus Heresy, where they were betrayed and nearly annihilated. In desperation, Corax attempted to rebuild the Legion using forbidden gene-seed acceleration techniques, which led to tragic mutations. Haunted by this failure, Corax eventually vanished into the Eye of Terror. Despite these setbacks, the Raven Guard endured, continuing to serve the Imperium as masters of covert warfare. Their warriors are known for their pale skin, dark eyes, and preference for lightning-fast assaults, often wielding lightning claws and operating in Phobos-pattern armour. Today, they remain a symbol of silent vengeance, striking unseen and leaving only death in their wake
