The Inceptors are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter created during the Second Founding in the 31st Millennium, following the Horus Heresy. As successors of the Ultramarines, they are Codex Astartes-compliant and uphold the legacy of their primarch, Roboute Guilliman. Their Chapter colours are forest green with gold trim, and their badge features a white “I” superimposed over an inverted Omega symbol, signifying their Ultramarine lineage. Though their homeworld and Chapter Master remain unknown, they have participated in major Imperial campaigns, including the War of the Beast and the Macharian Crusade.

One of the most defining events in their history was the Euxcine Incident during the Macharian Heresy. After the death of Lord Solar Macharius, civil war erupted across his conquered territories. The Inceptors became embroiled in a bitter feud with the Doom Warriors, which escalated into open conflict. The High Lords of Terra dispatched the Minotaurs Chapter to suppress the fighting. The Minotaurs, notorious for their brutality, attacked both Chapters indiscriminately. The Doom Warriors fled, but the Inceptors were trapped and nearly annihilated. Fewer than 100 battle-brothers survived, and many sacred relics—including their Great Crusade-era flagship—were seized by the Minotaurs.

The aftermath of the Euxcine Incident sent shockwaves through the Imperium. The near-destruction of such a venerable Chapter, especially one so closely tied to the Ultramarines, was seen as a grave injustice. Many Ultramarine successor Chapters denounced the Minotaurs and barred them from entering the Realm of Ultramar. The surviving Inceptors were left severely depleted, their honour tarnished and their legacy scarred. Yet their resilience and loyalty to the Imperium endure, and their surviving warriors continue to fight with grim determination, seeking redemption and vengeance where honour permits.
