The 25th Founding, also known as the Bastion Founding, occurred in the latter half of the 40th Millennium and produced only three known Space Marine Chapters: the Emperor’s Spears, the Fire Angels, and the ill-fated Star Scorpions. It was a strategic response to growing threats in remote regions of the Imperium. This Founding was part of the Imperium’s effort to reinforce vulnerable frontier territories, particularly the backwater region known as Elara’s Veil. The Emperor’s Spears, a successor of the Ultramarines, were stationed on Nemeton and became one of the three Chapters comprising the Adeptus Vaelarii, also called the Sentinels of the Veil. They were tasked with defending this isolated region alongside the Fire Angels and Star Scorpions. The Fire Angels, also descended from Ultramarines gene-stock, hail from Lorin Alpha but maintain little connection to other Ultramarine successors. The Star Scorpions, however, met a tragic fate: their gene-seed became highly unstable, and their fleet was lost in the Warp, overwhelmed by daemonic forces. They are now considered a lost Chapter. The 25th Founding remains one of the smallest and most enigmatic Foundings in Imperial history, focused more on strategic placement than mass reinforcement
