== Background ==
Born in the settlement of Hesiod’s Wake on Nocturne, T’Karus grew up surrounded by volcanic heat, forge‑fires, and the ever‑present threat of the planet’s brutal environment. As a youth, he apprenticed under a master metalsmith, learning to read the language of flame—its temperament, its hunger, its potential.

His psychic potential was minimal, but his affinity for heat, combustion, and flamecraft was extraordinary. When the Salamanders recruited him, he adapted quickly to the Chapter’s pyre disciplines. As an Infernus Marine, he mastered the use of flame weapons with a precision that bordered on artistry. His instructors noted that he could judge the perfect moment to ignite a promethium burst simply by feeling the air shift.

T’Karus earned the honorific ''Sythrak'', meaning “He Who Shapes the Fire,” after a campaign where his flamecraft saved an entire civilian enclave from a Tyranid infestation. His secondment to the Deathwatch was requested after several operations where his mastery of controlled burns proved decisive.
