+++ BEGIN TRANSMISSION : INQUISITOR TRAVOR, ORDO SEPULTURUM +++
It began in the Malfian region of the Calixis sector, Segmentum Obscurus. The mining moons of Cantor IV were slowly going silent. No more minerals, no more daily reports... just deathly silence and static. Conflicting reports were forthcoming on the matter. The local governor claimed that this was just local pirate activity, and that he had the Navy investigating. My contacts, however, felt that this might be more than simple pirate activity, and that it fell into my specific area of interest.
As part of the Ordo Sepulturum, it falls on me to investigate any rumours of plague zombie activity across the Imperium. Since the Cicatrix Maledictum opened, our tiny corner of the Inquisition has become stretched, so I am forced to draft help from wherever I can get it... even drafting chamber militants from the major branches of the Inquisition.
The first port of call was to use the services of a near-by Rogue Trader, Heinrich Gelden, that I (somewhat) trusted. Using the age old guise of enterprise, we managed to enter the mining belt to analyse the quality of the ores across the different moons. During our investigation of the third moon, if you can call something the size of a small asteroid a moon, it became clear that it was no pirates; but the work of heretics. Governor Beletine had become enthralled by the powers of Nurgle and was slowly turning each mine into a festering nursery for Plague Zombies.
Full details of the action will follow, but we managed to extract ourselves, along with a portion of the local PDF and uninfected population that have since accompanied me in my harassment of the fleeing filth. The Grey Knights were called in to purge the site shortly before the Terminus Est arrived... no doubt expecting a restock of zombies.
On our travels across the subsector, we have managed to expand our allies from one of the regional Deathwatch Watch Fortress that was under siege by an Ork horde that went by the name Da Ork Angels. When we arrived at their planet, It was apparent that they would not last for long, so the Fortress was used as bait for the force and detonated, devastating the greenskin forces and hopefully setting their Waaagh back a few decades, giving Militarum forces the chance to mop up. The survivors of the Fortress have established a new central base in our fleet and are coordinating with local Watch Stations when needed. The Governor is clearly not against utilising xenos to sow seeds of discord as he flees, so the Watch are willing to support our actions where necessary.
We still pursue the former Governor, decades later... we fear what he is up to now... the experiments that we have found over the recent years have included heresies of all kinds, including Xenos interactions, cult uprisings, tech abominations and even time anomalies. While these are all highly disturbing, it has also brought us into contact with allies of all kinds; some of whom would have me terminated for heresies of my own...
