Kill-team Cassius is a renowned Deathwatch unit led by High [[Chaplain Ortan Cassius]] of the [[:Category:Ultramarines\|Ultramarines]]. Formed during an unauthorized mission to the mining world of Ghosar Quintus in 681.M41, the team was instrumental in uncovering the existence of Genestealer Cults within the Imperium. Their investigation began after the mysterious disappearance of Inquisitor Chaegryn, who had reported signs of alien worship and disturbing religious iconography. Cassius, suspecting xenos influence, assembled a kill-team without formal approval to bring the Emperor’s vengeance to whatever lurked beneath the planet’s surface.

			Designated as an Aquila Kill-team, Cassius’s squad was composed of elite Space Marines from various Chapters, each bringing unique skills and armaments. Members included Vael Donatus (Ultramarines), Zameon Gydrael (Dark Angels), Drenn Redblade (Space Wolves), Rodicrus Grytt (Imperial Fists), Ennox Sorrlock (Iron Hands), and others such as Jetek Suberei (White Scars), Jensus Natorian (Blood Ravens), and Edryc Setorax (Raven Guard). Their mission led them deep into the Great Pit of Ghosar Quintus, where they discovered horrifying genetic hybrids and the cult’s founding Patriarch. Cassius’s Rosarius protected him during a brutal confrontation, and the team ultimately recovered evidence confirming the widespread Genestealer infestation.

			The implications of Kill-team Cassius’s findings were staggering. The cult’s influence extended beyond Ghosar Quintus, threatening entire sectors of the galaxy. Their discovery revealed that Genestealer Cults were not isolated threats but the vanguard of Hive Fleet invasions—an insidious prelude to the Tyranid onslaughts that would follow. Cassius’s actions marked the beginning of a new war against xenos infiltration, and his kill-team became legendary within the Deathwatch for their role in exposing one of the Imperium’s most dangerous enemies
