General Description
The Void Panthers are an Ultima Founding Chapter forged during the tumultuous days of the Indomitus Crusade, created to bring order to the lawless reaches of the Panthera Expanse using Raven Guard Gene=seed. Operating from a fleet‑based fortress monastery, The Night’s Prowl. They specialise in stealth‑oriented void warfare; an unusual but highly effective doctrine for Primaris‑heavy forces. Their armour is a deep, light‑absorbing black accented with muted silver, designed to blend seamlessly into the darkness of space. Where other Chapters favour thunderous boarding assaults or overwhelming firepower, the Void Panthers strike like silent predators: unseen, unheard, and devastatingly precise. Their mastery of auspex‑masking, void‑cloak manoeuvres, and sensor‑ghost tactics has earned them a reputation as hunters who can make entire pirate flotillas vanish without a trace.

Culturally, the Void Panthers embrace patience, discipline, and predatory instinct. Their recruits are drawn from void‑habitats and orbital enclaves where survival depends on silence and situational awareness. This upbringing shapes their combat philosophy: they value stillness, observation, and the perfect moment to strike. Rituals within the Chapter often revolve around the symbolism of the panther—silent stalking, sudden violence, and absolute control of one’s environment. Though they are not emotionless, they are intensely self‑contained, speaking little and acting with deliberate precision. To allies, they can seem eerie or aloof; to their enemies, they are ghosts in the dark, heralded only by the brief flare of muzzle‑fire before the void swallows them again.

Gene‑Seed Quirks
The Void Panthers inherit several traits typical of the Raven Guard, but with their own void‑born twist:

Muted Presence
Brothers of the Chapter move with an uncanny quietness, even in full armour. Many Imperial Guard regiments find their sudden appearances unsettling.

Void‑Adapted Physiology
Long service in the cold dark has subtly shaped them:

* Pale, almost grey‑toned skin
* Eyes that reflect light like a predator’s
* Exceptional tolerance for low‑oxygen environments

These traits are not mutations, but environmental adaptations reinforced by training.

The “Stillness”
A behavioural quirk where Void Panthers can remain motionless for extraordinary lengths of time. This is both meditative practice and battlefield technique.

Rituals and Beliefs
The Rite of the Silent Maw
Before deployment, each squad performs a moment of absolute silence, symbolising the void’s embrace. No words, no vox traffic, no movement. It is believed to sharpen instinct and unify purpose.

The Panther’s Vigil
New recruits must spend a full night alone in a sealed void chamber with no light, no sound, and minimal oxygen. Surviving the Vigil is seen as proof that the recruit can “hear the void” and remain calm within it.

The Marking of the Shadow
Veterans ritually blacken the edges of their armour with void‑ash collected from destroyed enemy vessels. This is both symbolic and a mark of honour.

Reverence for Silence
The Chapter treats silence as a sacred state. Loud, boastful behaviour is frowned upon. Even victory celebrations are subdued, more akin to quiet reflection than revelry.

Combat Doctrine
The Void Panthers specialise in stealth‑void warfare, but their doctrine has several unique flavours:

Auspex Ghosting
They excel at masking their presence from enemy sensors, using void‑cloak manoeuvres, hull‑shadowing, and micro‑burn propulsion to approach unseen.

Predatory Patience
They prefer to stalk an enemy fleet for hours or days, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Their assaults are sudden, overwhelming, and surgically precise.

Boarding Actions as Art Form
Where many Chapters favour brute‑force boarding, the Void Panthers use:

* Silent breaching charges
* Coordinated multi‑vector infiltration
* Heavy Intercessors as anchor points
* Assault Intercessors as rapid‑strike claws

They aim to decapitate command structures before the enemy realises they’ve been boarded.

Void‑Kill Zones
They are masters of creating artificial choke points in zero‑gravity environments, using debris, mag‑locks, and controlled decompressions to funnel enemies into kill‑lanes.

Relationship with the Raven Guard
Respectful but Distant
The Void Panthers revere their progenitors, but maintain a respectful distance. They see themselves as hunters of the void, while the Raven Guard are hunters of the shadows. Different environments, same philosophy.

Shared Values
Both Chapters value:

* Stealth
* Precision
* Patience
* Minimal casualties
* Maximum impact

This shared mindset fosters mutual respect.

Occasional Joint Operations
When the Raven Guard require void‑warfare specialists, the Void Panthers are often called upon. Conversely, the Panthers sometimes request Raven Guard support for ground‑based infiltration campaigns.

The Shadowed Claw Pact
A formal oath of brotherhood between the two Chapters, renewed every century. It symbolises unity of purpose and shared bloodline.

Subtle Differences
The Raven Guard find the Void Panthers’ extreme silence and void‑rituals unsettling at times. The Panthers, in turn, view the Raven Guard as almost “loud” by comparison — a rare reversal.

CHAPTER MASTER – Kharos Vanthex, the Void‑Marked
Chapter Master Kharos Vanthex is a figure of quiet authority and predatory patience. Tall even by Astartes standards, his armour is etched with void‑sigils earned through decades of silent warfare. Vanthex is known for his uncanny ability to “feel” the movements of enemy fleets long before augurs detect them. Some Techmarines whisper that he has a preternatural sense for void currents, though he dismisses such talk as superstition.

Vanthex rarely speaks, but when he does, his words are precise and final. He leads from the shadows, often joining infiltration teams personally to observe enemy behaviour before committing the full Chapter. His leadership style mirrors the void itself: vast, silent, and inexorable.

FORTRESS MONASTERY – The Night’s Prowl
The Void Panthers maintain a fleet‑based fortress monastery known as The Night’s Prowl, a massive, stealth‑shrouded battle barge that drifts through the Panthera Expanse like a hunting beast.

Key Features
* Void‑Cloak Generators: Advanced auspex‑masking systems allow the ship to vanish from most sensors.
* Silent Docks: Launch bays designed to deploy strike craft with minimal energy signatures.
* The Shadow Vaults: A labyrinthine reliquary containing trophies from defeated xenos fleets.
* The Panther’s Spine: A central training hall built in zero‑gravity, where recruits learn to fight in silence and darkness.

The Night’s Prowl rarely docks at Imperial worlds; instead, it prowls the void, responding to distress signals or hunting threats before they reach populated systems.

NOTABLE HEROES
Shadow‑Captain Neryth Kaelos
Master of the 2nd Company and renowned for leading multi‑vector boarding assaults. Kaelos once infiltrated a Chaos warship alone, disabling its engines and guiding it into a star before extraction.

Chaplain Vharik the Still
A terrifyingly calm spiritual leader whose sermons are delivered in near‑whispers. He teaches the Rite of the Silent Maw and is said to be able to stand motionless for an entire day without shifting.

Techmarine Xelvar Thorne
A master of voidcraft sabotage. Thorne developed the Chapter’s signature “ghost‑breach” charges—silent explosives that cut through hull plating without triggering alarms.

RELICS OF THE VOID PANTHERS
The Panther’s Gaze
A helm said to contain fragments of a xenos sensor array. When worn, it grants the bearer extraordinary perception in low‑light and void conditions.

The Silent Talon
A power sword whose activation field emits no sound. It is traditionally carried by the Chapter’s foremost duellist.

The Void‑Ash Censer
A Chaplain’s relic filled with ash collected from the hulls of destroyed enemy vessels. When swung, it releases a faint, metallic mist believed to sharpen the senses of nearby Panthers.

MYTHS AND LEGENDS
The First Hunt
A foundational myth claiming that the Chapter’s first Master hunted a xenos void‑beast across three systems before slaying it in the heart of a nebula. Its bones supposedly form the throne in the Night’s Prowl’s strategium.

The Whisper in the Dark
Some Panthers claim that in moments of great danger, they hear a faint whisper guiding their actions. Officially, this is dismissed as superstition. Unofficially, many veterans believe it is the voice of Corvus Corax watching over his distant sons.

The Lost Claw
A legendary company said to have vanished during a warp‑storm centuries ago. Some augur readings suggest they still fight in the Immaterium, stalking daemons in eternal darkness.

NOTABLE CAMPAIGNS
The Nebula of Knives
A brutal void‑war against Drukhari raiders who used the shifting nebula to mask their attacks. The Void Panthers adapted by turning the nebula’s electromagnetic storms into cover, eventually ambushing and annihilating the raider fleet.

The Silent Maw Purge
A Necron tombship emerged from a warp‑rift known as the Silent Maw. The Panthers boarded it in total silence, disabling its command core before it could fully awaken. The ship collapsed into the rift, taking thousands of dormant Necrons with it.

The Vornak Expanse Reclamation
Ork Freebooters seized control of a chain of mining stations. The Panthers executed a series of coordinated void‑breaches, eliminating the Ork leadership in minutes and reclaiming the stations with minimal collateral damage.

Sentinel of the Silent Void

Personality
Qorvath N’Tal is the embodiment of Void Panther discipline: silent, watchful, and unnervingly patient. He speaks rarely, preferring to observe and analyse before committing to action. When he does speak, his voice is low and deliberate—every word chosen with the same care he applies to his marksmanship.

He has a predator’s calm, moving with slow, controlled precision even under heavy fire. Qorvath is not cold, but he is intensely self‑contained; emotions are things he acknowledges privately, never allowing them to cloud his judgement. His brothers often describe him as “a shadow carved from ceramite,” always present, always steady, always ready.

Among Kill‑Teams, Qorvath becomes the immovable anchor—unshaken by chaos, unhurried by panic, and utterly reliable. He has a dry, understated sense of humour that surfaces only in the bleakest moments, usually delivered in a tone so flat that others aren’t sure he meant it as a joke.

Background
The Void Panthers are a Chapter known for their stealthy void‑warfare tactics, their dark armour, and their predatory patience. Qorvath was recruited from the drifting void‑habitats of the Panthera Expanse, where survival depends on silence, discipline, and the ability to read danger in the smallest details.

As a neophyte, he showed exceptional aptitude for heavy armour and long‑range fire discipline. While many Void Panthers favour ambush tactics, Qorvath excelled in the opposite role: the unyielding bulwark who holds the line while others strike from the shadows. His instructors noted his uncanny ability to remain perfectly still for hours, waiting for the exact moment to unleash devastating fire.

As a Heavy Intercessor, Qorvath served in multiple void sieges and boarding actions, where his calm under pressure and precise fire support proved invaluable. His secondment to the Deathwatch was requested after several campaigns involving xenos forces where his ability to anchor firing lines and read battlefield flow made him indispensable.

Notable Missions Prior to Joining the Deathwatch
1. The Blackstar Hull Breach – Tyranid Void Incursion
A Tyranid vanguard organism infiltrated the Blackstar listening station, tearing through its outer hull.

* Qorvath held the breach alone for nearly ten minutes while the rest of his squad repositioned, maintaining a relentless storm of heavy bolt fire.
* He identified a synapse creature attempting to flank through a collapsed corridor and eliminated it with a single, perfectly timed burst.
* His stand prevented the Tyranids from overrunning the station’s command nexus.

2. The Silent Maw Boarding Action – Necron Tombship Engagement
A Necron tombship emerged from the warp‑rift known as the Silent Maw, threatening nearby Imperial convoys.

* Qorvath led a breach team into the tombship’s outer galleries, advancing methodically under withering gauss fire.
* He destroyed a Triarch Stalker by collapsing a support archway onto it, then used the debris as improvised cover to secure the chamber.
* His actions allowed Techmarines to sabotage the ship’s core, causing it to collapse into the rift.

3. The Vornak Ridge Stand – Ork Freebooter Offensive
Ork Freebooters entrenched themselves along Vornak Ridge, using looted macro‑cannons to bombard Imperial supply lines.

* Qorvath anchored the central assault, advancing with slow, unstoppable certainty despite heavy fire.
* He neutralised the Ork gunners with disciplined volleys, refusing to waste a single round.
* When the Warboss attempted a counter‑charge, Qorvath met it head‑on, weathering the brute’s blows long enough for his squad to flank and eliminate it.
Personality
Lucian Thestor embodies the disciplined, noble spirit of the Ultramarines, but with a sharper edge than many of his brothers. He is precise in speech, measured in action, and unwavering in his adherence to the Codex Astartes. Yet beneath that polished exterior lies a fierce competitive streak—Lucian pushes himself relentlessly, determined to excel not for glory, but because excellence is the standard he believes every Ultramarine must uphold.

He is confident without arrogance, calm without detachment, and serious without being joyless. Lucian has a dry, understated sense of humour that surfaces only among those he trusts. In battle, he is decisive and aggressive, but never reckless; every strike is calculated, every movement purposeful.

Among Kill‑Teams, Lucian often becomes the quiet strategist—offering clear, concise suggestions that cut straight to the heart of a problem. He respects warriors of all Chapters, though he occasionally struggles with those who disregard discipline or structure.

Background
Lucian was born on Macragge, raised within the structured, honour‑bound culture of the Ultramarines’ realm. From a young age, he excelled in martial training and tactical studies, showing a natural aptitude for close‑quarters combat and rapid‑response operations. His instructors noted his ability to remain calm under pressure and his instinctive understanding of battlefield flow.

As a full battle‑brother, Lucian served in the 13th Company, where he distinguished himself during several rapid‑strike campaigns. His adherence to the Codex Astartes was exemplary, but he also demonstrated the flexibility and initiative prized by modern Ultramarine commanders.

His secondment to the Deathwatch was requested after multiple engagements with xenos forces where his tactical insight and close‑combat prowess proved invaluable. Lucian accepted the honour with characteristic humility, viewing the Long Vigil as both a duty and an opportunity to refine his skills alongside the Imperium’s finest.

Notable Missions Prior to Joining the Deathwatch
1. The Karthion Breach – Tyranid Vanguard Assault
A Tyranid vanguard organism infiltrated the fortress‑city of Karthion.

* Lucian led a counter‑assault through the breached outer wall, coordinating his squad’s advance with textbook precision.
* He identified a hidden synaptic node creature directing the swarm and eliminated it in close combat.
* With the brood’s cohesion broken, Imperial forces were able to reclaim the breach and stabilise the city’s defences.

2. The Vespera IX Reclamation – Necron Tomb Awakening
A Necron tomb complex beneath Vespera IX activated unexpectedly, overwhelming local PDF forces.

* Lucian spearheaded a rapid insertion strike, clearing the tomb’s outer galleries with disciplined aggression.
* He recognised the telltale energy fluctuations of an imminent teleportation surge and repositioned his squad moments before a Lychguard phalanx materialised.
* His quick thinking prevented the squad from being encircled and allowed them to destroy the tomb’s command node.

3. The Ironwind Plateau Skirmish – Ork Freebooter Incursion
A band of Ork Freebooters established a fortified camp along the Ironwind Plateau.

* Lucian led a lightning assault, using Codex‑perfect manoeuvres to break the Orks’ defensive line.
* He personally engaged and slew the Freebooter Kaptin after a brutal melee atop a wrecked transport.
* His leadership ensured the plateau was secured before the Orks could reinforce or entrench further.
Bearer of the Omen‑Marked Blade

Personality
Phaeron Malkyrios is the kind of warrior who seems to carry a quiet storm behind his eyes. Like many Silver Skulls, he is introspective, ritualistic, and deeply attuned to omens—but Phaeron takes this further. He treats every battlefield like a tapestry of signs waiting to be read, every moment a potential turning point foreseen in the Chapter’s auguries.

He is calm, deliberate, and rarely raises his voice. His brothers often remark that he “moves as though he already knows where he needs to be,” and more than once his uncanny instincts have saved lives. Phaeron is not aloof, but he is reserved—measured in speech, precise in action, and quietly confident in the path laid before him.

Among Kill‑Teams, he is the steady centre: the one who pauses for a heartbeat before committing, the one who senses danger before it manifests, the one who fights with the certainty of someone who believes fate is on his side—until it isn’t.

Background
Born on Varsavia, the Silver Skulls’ homeworld, Phaeron grew up immersed in the Chapter’s culture of ritual, prophecy, and martial discipline. Even as a neophyte, he showed a strong affinity for omen‑reading and battlefield intuition. His instructors noted that he possessed a rare ability to “feel” the flow of combat—subtle shifts in enemy intent, atmospheric changes, or the tension before an ambush.

As an Assault Intercessor, Phaeron excelled in close‑quarters combat, where instinct and rapid decision‑making are paramount. His blade, Portent’s Edge, was ritually marked by the Chapter’s Prognosticars after he survived a battle they had predicted would claim him. This event cemented his belief that fate had a purpose for him—one he was determined to fulfil.

His secondment to the Deathwatch was requested after several campaigns where his prescient instincts proved invaluable against xenos forces. The Watch values his ability to anticipate danger, his disciplined aggression, and his unwavering composure in the face of the unknown.

Notable Missions Prior to Joining the Deathwatch
1. The Varron Heights Breakthrough – Ork Warband Suppression
A massive Ork warband entrenched itself across the Varron Heights, threatening to overrun the region.

* Phaeron led a rapid‑strike assault through the narrow ridge passes, avoiding multiple ambushes thanks to his uncanny sense for danger.
* He slew the Ork Nob leading the vanguard in a brutal melee, breaking the momentum of the assault.
* His decision to reposition moments before a rockslide saved his squad—later confirmed by seismic readings.

2. The Crystal Sepulchre Awakening – Necron Tomb Event
A dormant Necron complex beneath the Crystal Sepulchre began to stir.

* Phaeron spearheaded the breach into the tomb’s outer chambers, cutting down advancing Warriors with precise, disciplined strikes.
* He identified a shifting energy pattern that signalled an imminent teleportation surge, allowing his squad to reposition before a Lychguard phalanx materialised.
* His actions prevented the Necrons from sealing the chamber and trapping the strike force.

3. The Hive Kallisar Purge – Tyranid Vanguard Infestation
A Tyranid vanguard organism infiltrated the lower levels of Hive Kallisar.

* Phaeron led an assault team into the hive’s under‑tunnels, using his instincts to track the brood’s movements through echoing corridors.
* He destroyed a synaptic node creature before it could mature, halting the spread of the infestation.
* During the final engagement, he predicted the exact moment a Warrior‑form would strike from the shadows, intercepting and killing it before it reached his sergeant.
Flesh Tearers Chapter – Currently Seconded to the Deathwatch Bearer of the Red Pyre

Personality
Falkor Vharr is a study in contradictions: a Flesh Tearer who burns with fury, yet wields flame with the precision of a master artisan. The infamous blood‑rage of his Chapter simmers beneath every breath he takes, but Falkor has learned to channel that violence into disciplined, controlled firecraft. Where many of his kin fight like storms, he fights like a forge—hot, focused, and purposeful.

He is intense, brooding, and often curt, but not cruel. His restraint is deliberate, a constant battle against the instincts that define his lineage. Those who serve beside him in the Deathwatch quickly learn that Falkor’s silence is not hostility; it is concentration. He fears losing control more than he fears any xenos.

His mastery of flame is rare—almost unheard of—among the Flesh Tearers, whose fury often makes such precision impossible. Falkor treats fire with reverence, studying its behaviour with a craftsman’s eye and a zealot’s devotion. Among Kill‑Teams, he is the quiet inferno: steady until unleashed, devastating when he chooses to ignite.

Background
Falkor was born on Cretacia, raised among the brutal hunter‑tribes that produce the Flesh Tearers’ recruits. Even as a child, he displayed an unusual fascination with fire—not as a weapon of destruction, but as a source of warmth, light, and control. Tribal elders whispered that he could sit beside a raging bonfire without flinching, watching the flames with a calm that unsettled even seasoned warriors.

When the Flesh Tearers claimed him, his instructors quickly recognised a rare trait: Falkor possessed the ability to temper the Chapter’s infamous blood‑lust with disciplined focus. This made him a natural candidate for the Infernus cadre, where flame weapons demand precision and restraint—qualities seldom found among his brethren.

His mastery of promethium patterns, ignition timing, and controlled burn tactics earned him the title Red Pyre. Recognising the rarity of such control in a Flesh Tearer, his superiors recommended him for Deathwatch service. The Watch accepted without hesitation; a warrior who can wield both fire and fury without succumbing to either is a weapon worth cherishing.

Notable Missions Prior to Joining the Deathwatch
1. The Black Ravine Purge – Cretacia Frontier
A Tyranid vanguard brood infested the ravine networks near a Flesh Tearers outpost.

* Falkor led a fire‑team into the narrow chasms, using controlled flame bursts to flush the creatures from their hiding places.
* He ignited a precise promethium cascade that sealed a major tunnel system without collapsing the entire ravine.
* His restraint prevented the operation from devolving into a blood‑frenzy, allowing the squad to withdraw intact.

2. The Sable‑Forge Cleansing – Forge World Vornis
A Dark Mechanicum cult corrupted the lower manufactoria, animating the forges with daemon‑tainted scrapcode.

* Falkor used flame to sterilise corrupted machine‑spirits without damaging critical systems.
* He executed a controlled burn that severed the cult’s ritual circle, preventing a daemon manifestation.
* Tech‑priests later remarked that his precision with fire was “statistically improbable for a Flesh Tearer.”

3. The Crimson Shoal Extermination – Oceanic World Lathrys
Xenos parasites infested the floating kelp‑forests surrounding equatorial settlements.

* Falkor devised a method to ignite parasite clusters without setting the entire shoal ablaze.
* He used flame‑jets underwater—an extremely risky tactic—by superheating trapped gas pockets to create sterilising shockwaves.
* His actions prevented the infestation from reaching deep‑reef ecosystems, averting planetary famine.

Salamanders Chapter – Currently Seconded to the Deathwatch Forge‑Kin of Nocturne

Personality
T’Karus Sythrak carries the quiet, steady warmth so characteristic of the Salamanders, but beneath that calm exterior burns a fierce devotion to the art of flame. He treats fire not as a crude tool but as a living force—one that must be respected, understood, and guided. When he speaks of it, there’s a reverence in his tone, as though discussing an old friend.

In battle, T’Karus becomes intensely focused, almost serene. He moves with the confidence of someone who has spent a lifetime studying how fire behaves—how it curls, how it spreads, how it consumes. His brothers often say he “thinks in flame,” visualising the battlefield in arcs of heat and lines of ignition.

Outside of combat, he is patient, approachable, and deeply protective of those who cannot defend themselves. Among Kill‑Teams, he is the steadying presence who offers reassurance before the drop and a firm hand after the fight. But when the order to burn is given, he unleashes the full, terrifying beauty of controlled fire.

Background
Born in the settlement of Hesiod’s Wake on Nocturne, T’Karus grew up surrounded by volcanic heat, forge‑fires, and the ever‑present threat of the planet’s brutal environment. As a youth, he apprenticed under a master metalsmith, learning to read the language of flame—its temperament, its hunger, its potential.

His psychic potential was minimal, but his affinity for heat, combustion, and flamecraft was extraordinary. When the Salamanders recruited him, he adapted quickly to the Chapter’s pyre disciplines. As an Infernus Marine, he mastered the use of flame weapons with a precision that bordered on artistry. His instructors noted that he could judge the perfect moment to ignite a promethium burst simply by feeling the air shift.

T’Karus earned the honorific Sythrak, meaning “He Who Shapes the Fire,” after a campaign where his flamecraft saved an entire civilian enclave from a Tyranid infestation. His secondment to the Deathwatch was requested after several operations where his mastery of controlled burns proved decisive.

Notable Missions Prior to Joining the Deathwatch
1. The Ash‑Hollow Purge – Nocturne Subterranean Campaign
A Tyranid vanguard brood burrowed into the lava tubes beneath Mount Kharaxis.

* T’Karus led a fire‑team through unstable tunnels, using carefully measured flame bursts to collapse side passages and corral the creatures.
* He incinerated a cluster of spore chimneys before they could mature, preventing a full planetary infestation.
* His ability to wield fire safely in volatile terrain saved the strike force from multiple potential cave‑ins.

2. The Emberfall Reclamation – Hive World Pyrrhos
A Genestealer Cult had infested the hive’s heat‑exchanger levels, using the machinery as breeding grounds.

* T’Karus orchestrated a purge using synchronised flame patterns to flush hybrids from their warrens.
* He ignited a controlled backdraft that consumed the Patriarch’s lair without collapsing the entire manufactorum.
* His careful management of the blaze allowed trapped civilians to be evacuated unharmed.

3. The Scorched Reef Cleansing – Oceanic Moon Pelagos‑IV
Xenos parasites infested a chain of floating refinery platforms.

* T’Karus sterilised the under‑structures with flame‑jets, ensuring the platforms remained intact.
* He devised a method to ignite parasite swarms on the water’s surface without endangering refinery crews.
* His intervention prevented the infestation from reaching deep‑sea vents, where eradication would have been impossible.
Garran Thule is the living embodiment of Howling Griffon stubbornness. Steadfast to the point of immovability, he approaches every task with a knight‑errant’s solemnity and a siege‑engine’s patience. He speaks rarely, but when he does, his words carry the weight of someone who has already considered every angle twice.

He is fiercely honour‑bound, almost ritualistic in his discipline, and utterly intolerant of shortcuts. Garran believes that duty is not merely performed—it is upheld, like a sacred oath. This makes him a grounding presence in Kill‑Teams: calm under fire, unshaken by chaos, and unwavering in his commitment to the mission.

He has a dry, understated sense of humour that surfaces only in the bleakest moments, usually delivered in a tone so flat that others aren’t sure whether he’s joking. He never clarifies.

Background
The Howling Griffons are famed for their rigid adherence to honour, their quartered heraldry, and their long history of brutal, grinding wars. Garran was recruited from the feudal world of Mancora, where he served as a castle ward before being selected for the Chapter. Even as a neophyte, he displayed a natural aptitude for heavy armour and defensive warfare.

As a Heavy Intercessor, Garran excelled in roles that demanded endurance, precision, and the ability to hold ground against overwhelming odds. He fought in multiple sieges across the Maelstrom Zone, where the Griffons’ stubborn resilience is legendary. His calm under pressure and ability to anchor entire firing lines made him a natural candidate for Deathwatch service.

The Watch requested him specifically for missions requiring a disciplined bulwark—someone who could stand firm against xenos horrors without faltering. Garran accepted the secondment as a matter of honour, viewing it as both duty and pilgrimage.

Notable Missions Prior to Joining the Deathwatch
1. The Crimson Bastion Stand
During a Chaos incursion on the fortress‑moon of Vordell, a breach in the outer bastion threatened to collapse the entire defence grid.

* Garran held the breach with a single squad, maintaining a relentless storm of bolt fire against waves of corrupted militia and Traitor Astartes.
* He identified a Havoc gunline attempting to flank the defenders and neutralised it with precise heavy bolt volleys.
* His stand allowed the Howling Griffons to regroup and seal the breach, preserving the moon’s orbital defences.

2. The Maelstrom Route Interdiction
Ork Freebootaz attempted to seize a vital warp‑route monitoring station near the Maelstrom.

* Garran anchored the central corridor, advancing methodically despite the Orks’ overwhelming numbers.
* He destroyed a looted plasma emplacement by collapsing a support pillar, turning the debris into improvised cover.
* His disciplined fire broke the Ork assault long enough for reinforcements to arrive and purge the station.

3. The Shale‑Deep Purification
A mining world reported disappearances in its lower tunnels—later revealed to be the work of Tyranid vanguard organisms.

* Garran led a slow, grinding push through the claustrophobic tunnels, maintaining formation despite ambush after ambush.
* He eliminated a Tyranid bio‑node attempting to convert the mine’s ventilation system into a spawning chamber.
* When a Warrior‑form attempted to break the line, Garran met it head‑on, weathering its blows and cutting it down with disciplined bursts.
Clan Raukaan – Currently Seconded to the Deathwatch

Personality
Malachai Vortan is the embodiment of Iron Hands doctrine: austere, disciplined, and utterly intolerant of weakness—whether physical, emotional, or ideological. His manner is clipped and efficient, his words chosen with the same precision he applies to the calibration of a servo‑arm. He rarely raises his voice, yet his presence carries a weight that compels obedience.

He views the galaxy through a lens of cold logic, believing that sentiment clouds judgment and that the flesh is a temporary, fallible vessel. Despite this, he is not devoid of loyalty or purpose; his devotion simply manifests as an unwavering commitment to the Imperium’s survival. Among Kill‑Teams, he often becomes the unspoken backbone; reliable, unflinching, and brutally pragmatic.

Malachai respects competence above all else. Those who demonstrate skill, discipline, and clarity of purpose earn his regard, regardless of Chapter or creed. Those who indulge in bravado or emotional indulgence find him immovable as ceramite.

Background
Born on Medusa and raised within the unforgiving culture of Clan Raukaan, Malachai was marked early for the dual path of Techmarine and Chaplain... an Iron Father. His affinity for machinery was matched only by his ability to impose discipline, both upon himself and others. He trained under the watchful eyes of the Cult Mechanicus on Mars, returning to Medusa with a mind sharpened like a cog‑toothed blade.

As an Iron Father, Malachai served as spiritual guide, battlefield engineer, and executioner of the Chapter’s harsh doctrines. His battlefield record is defined by relentless efficiency: repairing war engines under fire, leading purgation squads into the heart of corrupted manufactoria, and delivering the Iron Hands’ uncompromising creed to allies and enemies alike.

His secondment to the Deathwatch was formally requested after several campaigns involving technologically advanced xenos threats. The Watch sought his expertise in machine‑corruption, xenotech analysis, and battlefield fortification. Malachai accepted without hesitation. Duty is duty, and the Long Vigil offers ample opportunity to test both metal and will.

Notable Missions Prior to Joining the Deathwatch
1. The Gethrax Forge‑Purge
A Dark Mechanicum warband infiltrated the Gethrax Forge Complex, corrupting its machine‑spirits and enslaving its Skitarii.

* Malachai led a surgical strike to sever the corrupted noospheric network.
* He personally engaged a corrupted Kastelan Maniple, disabling it with a combination of melta charges and precise servo‑arm strikes.
* His actions restored partial control of the forge, allowing loyalist forces to reclaim the facility with minimal further contamination.

2. The Kharon Depths Cleansing
A Necron awakening beneath the mining world of Kharon threatened to overrun the planet before Imperial forces could mobilise.

* Malachai coordinated a subterranean assault, using seismic readings to predict Necron emergence points.
* He devised improvised EMP charges that disrupted several Necron phalanxes long enough for the Iron Hands to shatter them.
* His analysis of captured xenotech fragments later informed Mechanicus countermeasures used across the subsector.

3. The Fall of Outpost Helion‑9
A Tau Hunter Cadre overran Helion‑9, a remote Imperial research station studying experimental reactor cores.

* Malachai led a counter‑assault to prevent the Tau from seizing the reactor prototypes.
* He rerouted the outpost’s failing power grid mid‑battle, restoring automated defence turrets and turning the station itself into a weapon.
Personality
Tiberion Calchos embodies the disciplined intellect expected of an Ultramarines Librarian, but beneath that polished exterior lies a relentless, quietly burning curiosity. He approaches the warp not as a mystic but as a scholar‑warrior—methodical, analytical, and unflinchingly controlled. His brothers often describe him as “measured to the point of inevitability”: every word chosen with care, every psychic invocation shaped with mathematical precision.

Despite his calm demeanour, Calchos possesses a stern intolerance for disorder, deception, or wasted effort. He is not unkind, but he is uncompromising. Among Kill‑Teams, he often becomes the quiet centre of gravity—someone others instinctively orient around. He listens more than he speaks, but when he does speak, his insights tend to cut straight to the heart of a problem.

He holds a deep reverence for knowledge, particularly that which strengthens the Imperium’s understanding of its enemies. Yet he is wary of the thin line between study and corruption, and his self‑discipline is legendary even among the Ultramarines.

Background
Born on Talassar and inducted into the Ultramarines as a youth, Tiberion showed early signs of psychic potential. His tutors noted his unusual ability to visualise complex tactical patterns before they unfolded, a talent that led him to the Librarius. Under the guidance of Chief Librarian Varro Tigurius, he developed a reputation for exceptional mental fortitude and a gift for biomantic and divinatory disciplines.

Tiberion served with distinction in the 2nd Company for over a century, acting as both battlefield psyker and strategic advisor. His calm presence and analytical mind made him a natural fit for operations requiring precision and subtlety. After several campaigns involving xenos forces—particularly Tyranids and Eldar—Watch Fortress Erioch formally requested his secondment to the Deathwatch. The Ultramarines agreed, recognising that his talents were well suited to the Long Vigil.

Now clad in the black of the Deathwatch, Tiberion serves as a psychic bulwark against alien influence, a scholar of xenos minds, and a battlefield asset whose foresight has saved Kill‑Teams from annihilation more than once.

Notable Missions Prior to Joining the Deathwatch
1. The Karthax Rift Incursion
A splinter of Hive Fleet Kraken breached the Karthax Rift, threatening a chain of lightly defended mining worlds. Tiberion was attached to a rapid‑response strike force tasked with delaying the Tyranids until reinforcements arrived.

* He erected a series of psychic wards that disrupted synaptic cohesion, causing several broods to fall into disarray.
* His prescient warnings allowed the strike force to avoid an ambush by Lictors, preserving the command cadre.
* The delaying action succeeded, and the Tyranid advance stalled long enough for the arrival of a full Battle Group from Ultramar.

2. The Vharos Reclamation
When the agri‑world Vharos fell to a sudden Eldar incursion, Tiberion accompanied the 2nd Company in a counter‑offensive.

* He deciphered the Eldar’s shifting webway patterns, predicting their next strike with uncanny accuracy.
* During the final engagement, he engaged an Eldar Warlock in a psychic duel, severing the xenos’ link to their strike force and collapsing their battle plan.
* The Ultramarines reclaimed the world with minimal civilian casualties, a rare outcome in such conflicts.

3. The Purge of Hive Lormax
A Genestealer Cult embedded deep within Hive Lormax triggered a planetary uprising. Tiberion was deployed to assist in identifying and neutralising the cult’s psychic nodes.

* He traced the broodmind’s influence through the hive’s under‑levels, pinpointing the Patriarch’s lair.
* His psychic shielding protected the strike team from the Patriarch’s mental assaults during the final assault.
* The cult was eradicated, and the hive returned to Imperial control within weeks.

Bloodmaws Chapter – Currently Seconded to the Deathwatch

Personality
Eldrunar Dravik carries the barely restrained ferocity typical of the Bloodmaws, but it simmers beneath a veneer of surprising introspection. Young by Astartes standards, he is still learning to balance the Chapter’s primal instincts with the discipline required of a Librarian. His emotions run hot. Anger, loyalty, pride... but he channels them with growing mastery into psychic force rather than reckless violence.

He is bold, direct, and unafraid to challenge assumptions, though never disrespectfully. Among Kill‑Teams, Eldrunar often becomes the spark that drives momentum: decisive in crisis, fearless in the face of the unknown, and willing to take risks others might hesitate to consider. His brothers describe him as “a storm held in a clenched fist”—dangerous if mishandled, but devastating when properly directed.

Despite his youth, he listens keenly to veterans, eager to refine his craft. He values strength, but he values control even more, knowing that a Bloodmaw without restraint is a weapon pointed at friend and foe alike.

Background
Eldrunar was born into one of the Fenris nomadic hunter‑clans. His psychic potential manifested early, marked by uncanny instincts and visions that guided his clan through predator‑haunted tundra. When the Blood maws came to recruit, Eldrunar was taken as a candidate and quickly identified for Librarius training.

Within the Chapter, he learned to temper the Bloodmaws’ savage traditions with the discipline demanded of a psyker. His instructors noted his affinity for telepathic and rage‑focusing disciplines—abilities that allowed him to harness the Chapter’s battle‑fury without succumbing to it. Though still early in his service, Eldrunar distinguished himself in several campaigns against xenos threats, demonstrating both raw power and a willingness to adapt.

His secondment to the Deathwatch was recommended after a series of encounters with psychic‑capable enemies, where his instincts and aggression proved invaluable. The Watch saw potential in him: a young Librarian whose ferocity could be shaped into a potent weapon against the alien.

Notable Missions Prior to Joining the Deathwatch
1. The Red Tundra Hunt – Vargoss Sub‑Sector
A splinter of a Tyranid vanguard organism infiltrated the icy plains of the Vargoss sub‑sector, preying on isolated settlements.

* Eldrunar led a Bloodmaws strike pack through blizzard conditions, using telepathic pulses to track the synaptic echoes of the creatures.
* He unleashed a psychic shockwave that disrupted the brood’s coordination, allowing his brothers to tear through the disoriented xenos.
* The final kill—an alpha‑beast adapted for cold environments—was achieved when Eldrunar pinned it psychically long enough for the pack to bring it down.

2. The Shattered Reliquary of Kurnos
An Eldar raiding force targeted an ancient Imperial reliquary believed to house a dormant warp‑artifact.

* Eldrunar sensed the artifact’s psychic resonance long before the Eldar arrived, enabling the Bloodmaws to intercept the strike.
* During the battle, he engaged an Eldar Farseer in a brief but intense psychic duel, severing the xenos’ foresight advantage.
* His intervention allowed the Bloodmaws to secure the relic and drive off the raiders with minimal losses.

3. The Gloomspire Rebellion – Hive World Xiang‑Luo
A Genestealer Cult uprising erupted within the lower levels of Hive Secundus, threatening to topple the planetary government.

* Eldrunar descended with a small Bloodmaws detachment, using telepathy to locate the cult’s hidden broodmind nodes.
* He confronted the Magus directly, overwhelming its psychic influence and breaking the cult’s cohesion.
* The subsequent purge was swift, and Eldrunar's actions prevented the uprising from spreading to the upper hive.

Personality
Rhexan Vortai is, by all accounts, perpetually irritated. Not enraged, not unhinged—just consistently, reliably grumpy. He carries himself like someone who expected the galaxy to make sense and is personally offended that it refuses to cooperate. His brothers describe him as “a storm cloud in power armour,” muttering about inefficiency, sloppy tactics, and anything that disrupts his sense of order.

Despite the dour exterior, Rhexan is fiercely dependable. His annoyance fuels his discipline: he trains harder, fights cleaner, and plans more meticulously simply because failure would irritate him even more. He has little patience for theatrics or bravado, and even less for warriors who don’t take their duties seriously. In a Kill‑Team, he becomes the blunt, grounding presence—direct, unsentimental, and brutally honest.

He doesn’t smile. Ever. Some suspect he physically can’t.

Background
The Valedictors are a Chapter shrouded in mystery, with little recorded about their origins or homeworld, though Imperial sources confirm their distinctive light‑green armour and post–Second Founding creation . Rhexan was recruited from one of the Chapter’s compliance‑world tithe populations, where discipline and order were drilled into citizens from birth. Even as a neophyte, he displayed a stubborn, unyielding temperament—never rebellious, simply unimpressed by anything that didn’t meet his standards.

As an Assault Intercessor, Rhexan excelled in close‑quarters combat, where his relentless focus and refusal to be distracted by pain or chaos made him a dependable shock‑trooper. His instructors noted that he lacked the fiery zeal common to assault specialists, replacing it instead with a cold, grinding determination.

His secondment to the Deathwatch came after several campaigns involving xenos forces where his precision, discipline, and refusal to panic under pressure made him an ideal candidate. The Watch appreciates his reliability, even if his constant scowl unnerves some of the more exuberant Chapters.

Notable Missions Prior to Joining the Deathwatch
1. The Varnyx Spire Breach
A Drukhari raiding force infiltrated the upper levels of the Varnyx hive‑spires, abducting thousands.

* Rhexan led a breach team through the spire’s ventilation labyrinth, grumbling the entire time about “xenos theatrics.”
* He executed a flawless drop‑assault into a slave‑pen chamber, cutting down the raiders before they could flee into the webway.
* His refusal to be baited by Drukhari taunts kept the squad focused and prevented casualties.

2. The Kessarine Dust War
A splinter of Ork Freebootaz landed on the desert world of Kessarine, overrunning its mining complexes.

* Rhexan spearheaded a counter‑charge through a canyon chokepoint, using disciplined formation tactics rather than reckless aggression.
* He personally eliminated the Ork Nob leading the warband after a grueling melee that he later described as “a waste of perfectly good time.”
* His leadership stabilized the front long enough for the Valedictors to reclaim the mining sites.

3. The Silent Reef Purge
A submerged research station on the oceanic moon of Pelagos‑VII went dark after Tyranid bioforms infiltrated its lower levels.

* Rhexan coordinated an underwater assault, maintaining strict formation despite the disorienting environment.
* He destroyed a cluster of feeder‑tendrils attempting to convert the station’s filtration systems into a spawning node.
* When the Patriarch‑spawned hybrid attempted to ambush the squad, Rhexan intercepted it mid‑lunge, later remarking that it was “the first sensible thing the creature did all day.”

The Ultramarines agreed, recognising that his talents were well suited to the Long Vigil.

Skorri Firehowl is a storm barely caged in ceramite. Though newly interred, his voice still carries the raw fury and pride of a living warrior, crackling through vox relays with the same fire that once roared across the battlefield. He is impatient with ritual, dismissive of pity, and hungry for war — not out of bitterness, but because he refuses to let death silence his saga.

Unlike the ancient Dreadnoughts who speak in riddles and sagas, Skorri is blunt, direct, and fiercely loyal. He fights not as a relic, but as a warrior who still remembers the sting of frost on his skin and the weight of a bolter in his hands.

Background
Skorri was once a Long Fang pack leader, known for his volcanic temper and unerring aim. He earned his name during the Siege of Thrym’s Hollow, where he directed fire support that shattered an entire Tau armored column. His packmates said his war cries could be heard over the roar of plasma fire — like a Fenrisian firestorm given voice.

He was a rising star in Ragnar Blackmane’s Great Company, often chosen to anchor the line or provide overwatch during the Great Wolf’s lightning-fast assaults. Skorri’s bond with his pack was legendary, and his disdain for retreat was absolute. His experiences against Drukhari, Tau and Orks made him a suitable candidate to join the Deathwatch along with his brothers, Bjorn Stonehowl and Hrothgar Ironpelt.

Mortally wounded during the Assault on the Shardspire, Skorri was recovered by his brothers and interred within a Deathwatch Ballistus Dreadnought chassis — a rare honour among the Space Wolves, who typically favour melee-focused Dreadnoughts. The ship's Techpriests saw in him a perfect match for the Ballistus’ long-range firepower and battlefield control.

Since awakening in his new form, Skorri has struggled with the stillness of the sarcophagus. He has not yet begun to adorn his frame with the fetishes, bones, or saga-runes that older Dreadnoughts bear. His armor is bare, save for the black and silver of the Deathwatch, and the wolf sigil of the Blackmanes. A reflection of a warrior who still sees himself as living, not legend.

Siege of Thrym’s Hollow
The ship's Techpriests saw in him a perfect match for the Ballistus’ long-range firepower and battlefield control.

Since awakening in his new form, Skorri has struggled with the stillness of the sarcophagus. He has not yet begun to adorn his frame with the fetishes, bones, or saga-runes that older Dreadnoughts bear. His armor is bare, save for the black and silver of the Deathwatch, and the wolf sigil of the Blackmanes. A reflection of a warrior who still sees himself as living, not legend.
Personality
Eirik Flameborn is a living relic of wrath and instinct. Though his voice now echoes through vox relays in a gravelled growl, his mind remains sharp with the memories of countless battles. He is stoic and cryptic, speaking in fragments of sagas and half-remembered oaths. Younger warriors regard him with reverence and unease — not just for his age, but for the feral intensity that still burns within him. Eirik fights with unrelenting aggression, preferring to charge headlong into the fray, and views death not as an end, but as a pause between hunts.

Background
Once a Blood Claw pack leader, Eirik was infamous for his berserker fury and disregard for personal safety. He earned the name Flameborn during the Battle of the Burning Spire, where he fought through a collapsing promethium refinery to slay a Chaos Sorcerer, his armor ablaze and his axe glowing red-hot. Mortally wounded in the aftermath, he was interred within a Castraferrum Dreadnought chassis, where he served for centuries.

As his combat style grew more feral and close-quarters, the Iron Priests of the Fang upgraded him to a Brutalis Dreadnought frame, unleashing his full fury. His chassis is now covered in trophies, bones, and saga-runes, each one a memory etched in steel; claws of slain Tyranids, tusks of Ork warlords, and fragments of Chaos armor. Rumors whisper that Eirik may be nearly as old as Bjorn the Fell-Handed, though none dare ask him directly.

Brother Eirik Flameborn is not merely a warrior, he is a saga given form, a frost-wreathed monument to the wrath of Fenris. In the Deathwatch, his legend grows with every shattered enemy line and every trophy added to his iron hide.
Bjorn Stonehowl is a gregarious, loud-voiced warrior with a booming laugh and a tale for every scar. He’s the kind of Space Wolf who fills the dropship with stories before the battle and war cries during it. Known for his relentless optimism and unshakable morale, Bjorn believes that courage is contagious—and he spreads it like wildfire. He’s fiercely loyal to his pack, quick to defend his brothers, and even quicker to challenge them to drinking contests after a successful purge.

* Combat Style: Shield-led assault, defensive formations, and precise melee strikes
* Preferred Weapons: Power sword and boarding shield
* Temperament: Bold, humorous, and inspiring in battle
* Reputation: “The Wall with a Roar”—his shield holds the line, his voice leads the charge

Background
Raised among the cliff tribes of Asaheim, Bjorn earned his name during his initiation trial when he slew a frost-wyrm with nothing but a broken spear and a stubborn refusal to die. He was inducted into the Blackmane Great Company under Ragnar Blackmane, where his natural charisma and shieldwork made him a favorite among the younger Blood Claws.

Bjorn’s preference for sword and shield over the traditional axes of his kin earned him some teasing—until he used them to hold a breach against a tide of Orks for six hours. When the Deathwatch called for warriors with both grit and presence, Ragnar sent Bjorn with a grin and a warning: “Try not to talk the xenos to death before you burn them.”
Personality
Brother Acastus is a stoic and enigmatic figure within the Deathwatch. He speaks rarely, preferring action over words, and maintains a disciplined, almost ritualistic approach to warfare. His silence is not born of arrogance but of purpose—he communicates through flame and fury. Fellow Watch Brothers describe him as unwavering, methodical, and unflinchingly loyal to the Deathwatch cause. Though his armor bears no chapter markings, his conduct suggests a noble origin and a deep sense of personal penance.

* Combat Style: Aggressive purgation using flame-based weaponry
* Preferred Weapon: Pyreblaster and combat blade
* Armor: Mk X Tacticus Power Armor, scorched and unadorned except for the silver Deathwatch pauldron
* Reputation: Respected for his effectiveness, feared for his silence

Background
Brother Acastus arrived at Watch Fortress Erioch without ceremony, bearing no chapter insignia and refusing to speak of his past. His designation as a Blackshield marks him as a Space Marine who has renounced—or been cast out from—his original chapter. Whether his exile was voluntary or enforced remains unknown. His flame discipline and tactical restraint suggest training from a chapter with strong purgation doctrines, possibly Salamanders or another fire-oriented lineage, though no confirmation exists.

* Chapter Origin: Unknown (records purged or withheld)
* Reason for Blackshield Status: Unrevealed
* Induction: Earned through trial by fire against a Tyranid splinter swarm

+++ BEGIN TRANSMISSION : INQUISITOR TRAVOR, ORDO SEPULTURUM +++

It began in the Malfian region of the Calixis sector, Segmentum Obscurus. The mining moons of Cantor IV were slowly going silent. No more minerals, no more daily reports... just deathly silence and static. Conflicting reports were forthcoming on the matter. The local governor claimed that this was just local pirate activity, and that he had the Navy investigating. My contacts, however, felt that this might be more than simple pirate activity, and that it fell into my specific area of interest.

As part of the Ordo Sepulturum, it falls on me to investigate any rumours of plague zombie activity across the Imperium. Since the Cicatrix Maledictum opened, our tiny corner of the Inquisition has become stretched, so I am forced to draft help from wherever I can get it... even drafting chamber militants from the major branches of the Inquisition.

The first port of call was to use the services of a near-by Rogue Trader, Heinrich Gelden, that I (somewhat) trusted. Using the age old guise of enterprise, we managed to enter the mining belt to analyse the quality of the ores across the different moons. During our investigation of the third moon, if you can call something the size of a small asteroid a moon, it became clear that it was no pirates; but the work of heretics. Governor Beletine had become enthralled by the powers of Nurgle and was slowly turning each mine into a festering nursery for Plague Zombies.

Full details of the action will follow, but we managed to extract ourselves, along with a portion of the local PDF and uninfected population that have since accompanied me in my harassment of the fleeing filth. The Grey Knights were called in to purge the site shortly before the Terminus Est arrived... no doubt expecting a restock of zombies.

On our travels across the subsector, we have managed to expand our allies from one of the regional Deathwatch Watch Fortress that was under siege by an Ork horde that went by the name Da Ork Angels. When we arrived at their planet, It was apparent that they would not last for long, so the Fortress was used as bait for the force and detonated, devastating the greenskin forces and hopefully setting their Waaagh back a few decades, giving Militarum forces the chance to mop up. The survivors of the Fortress have established a new central base in our fleet and are coordinating with local Watch Stations when needed. The Governor is clearly not against utilising xenos to sow seeds of discord as he flees, so the Watch are willing to support our actions where necessary.

We still pursue the former Governor, decades later... we fear what he is up to now... the experiments that we have found over the recent years have included heresies of all kinds, including Xenos interactions, cult uprisings, tech abominations and even time anomalies. While these are all highly disturbing, it has also brought us into contact with allies of all kinds; some of whom would have me terminated for heresies of my own...

Personality
Gideon Thorne is a model of calm resolve and doctrinal purity, shaped by the Angels of Absolution’s belief that their sins have been cleansed and their duty is now to uphold the Emperor’s will without shame. He is quiet, introspective, and fiercely loyal, often serving as the moral compass within his Kill Team. Unlike many of his Unforgiven cousins, Gideon does not dwell on ancient guilt — instead, he channels his energy into precise execution and unwavering discipline.

Though he rarely speaks of his Chapter’s divergence from the Dark Angels’ obsession with the Fallen, he holds firm to the belief that absolution has been earned, and that dwelling on past sins is a distraction from the Imperium’s survival.

Background
Born on the recruiting world of Nachwald, Gideon was selected for the Angels of Absolution after surviving the Trials of the Soul’s Well — a brutal series of tests designed to forge warriors of purity and conviction. He rose through the ranks as a tactical marksman, favoring the standard bolt rifle and precision fire discipline over brute force.

His unwavering faith and battlefield composure earned him a place in the Deathwatch, where his Chapter’s unique philosophy often sets him apart from other Unforgiven successors. While others hunt the Fallen in secret, Gideon fights in the open, believing that redemption lies in service, not secrecy.

Missions Prior to Deathwatch
* Defense of Allhallow Bastion: Held the line against a Tyranid vanguard force, coordinating fire teams to repel wave after wave of bioforms.
* The Cleansing of Virellia Prime: Led a strike squad against a Chaos cult uprising, executing precision eliminations of key targets.
* The Shardspire Skirmish: Fought alongside Dark Angels and Angels of Redemption, maintaining composure despite doctrinal tension over the Fallen.

Missions with the Deathwatch
* {REDACTED}

Intercessor Gideon Thorne fights not for redemption, but for duty fulfilled and absolution maintained. In the Deathwatch, he is a quiet storm... precise, principled, and unshaken by the shadows of the past.

The Angels of Absolution are a Second Founding Space Marine Chapter descended from the Dark Angels, notable for their belief that they have already earned absolution for... something. They will not say what though, which sparks concern in the eyes of my counterparts in the Ordo Hereticus.

Ordo records claim the Chapter was founded in the 31st Millennium, and seem to be structured similarly to the Dark Angels, including formations akin to the Deathwing and Ravenwing. Their Chapter Master, Master-Castellan Moddren, leads from their fortress-monastery Soul’s Well on the world of Allhallow.

They typically wear bone-white power armour with black and red accents, symbolising purity and vigilance.

They have fought in numerous campaigns across the galaxy, including the Siege of Vraks, the Corinth Crusade, and the Battle of the Caliban System. Their warriors are known for discipline, zeal, and a strong sense of justice.

Notable figures include Apothecary Septimus, a charismatic Deathwatch operative, and Master Yafrir, who was slain during the final battle on Vraks. The Angels of Absolution continue to serve the Imperium with conviction, balancing their belief in redemption with a relentless pursuit of anyone they deem traitor.

Whilst nominally classified as an Astartes Chapter, the Deathwatch is not formally divided into separate companies and does not adhere to the Codex Astartes... at least someone sees sense in being tactically flexible!

Known as the Shield that Slays, they are the Chamber Militant of the Ordo Xenos, charged with protecting it in its search of information, containment, and ultimate destruction of all xeno species; however they have seen the benefit of joining our fleet to hunt down the Governor as he has no qualms about utilising xenos tech in his experiments.

Each Watch House is led by a Watch Master, who oversees the tactical deployment of any available forces to suit the mission statement. Because most of the Watch house residents are drawn from many chapters, there is no formal unit structure or unit coherency. Individual Kill-teams can often change their composition from mission to mission as ordered by the deployment orders, or necessitated by skills required to achieve their goals.

The Watch Fortress classifies them as Veteran Kill Team, Kill Team and Line Teams.

* Veteran Kill Teams bring together the elite, and equip them to fulfil very specific missions using kit not typically available to other teams.
* Kill Teams fit into the categories of Terminator, Talonstrike, Fortis, Indomitor or Spectrus where mixed skills are more important than specialised equipment. Kill Teams are more widely used than Line Teams, for tactical flexibility.
* Line Teams align to the Codex standard squad equipment loads.

Larger deployments are also, confusingly, referred to as Kill Teams... I do wish they would use something different. For future reference, we'll refer to those larger scale deployments as Kill Forces instead,

We have yet to deploy with the Deathwatch Kill Teams, but only time will tell.
The Wardens were formed to provide heavy infantry tactics, favouring Gravis-armored Veterans and terminators, equipped with heavy bolters, Cyclone missile launchers, and frag cannons. Their combat doctrine emphasizes:

* Zone denial and attrition warfare
* Siege-breaking and fortress defense
* Counter-xenos suppression in confined environments

Recruitment and Composition
The Wardens draw heavily from Chapters known for resilience and firepower:

* Minotaurs — brutal enforcers with a taste for shock assault
* Iron Hands — cybernetic warriors who endure beyond flesh
* Imperial Fists — masters of siege warfare
* Salamanders — flame-wielding protectors with a strong sense of duty

--- TRANSMISSION END ---

The 26th Founding occurred in 738.M41 and produced only one known Space Marine Chapter: the Mentors, also referred to as the Mentor Legion. This Founding was marked by secrecy and a cautious approach following previous Founding failures.

The Mentors Chapter was created to replace the lost Star Scorpions, who had been designated Chapter number 888 during the 25th Founding. The Star Scorpions were destroyed after their gene-seed proved unstable and they were lost in the Warp during a daemonic attack. Although some of their gene-stock survived, it was deemed unusable by the Adeptus Mechanicus.

Years later, the Mechanicus revisited the idea of reviving Chapter 888, and during the 26th Founding, the Mentors were born. They inherited the Chapter number and colors of the Star Scorpions but were given entirely new gene-seed sourced from Terra’s gene-laboratories. The Mentors are known for being reclusive, suspicious, and highly independent, preferring to operate alone and avoid contact with other Chapters or Imperial authorities. Their activities are often classified, and little is known about their homeworld or exact lineage.

This Founding stands out for its limited scope, producing only one confirmed Chapter and emphasizing quality and secrecy over quantity

Notable examples include the Marines Errant, descended from the Eagle Warriors (and ultimately the Ultramarines), and the Star Phantoms, whose origins remain mysterious but are speculated to involve Dark Angels gene-seed — a claim both Chapters deny.

Other Chapters from this Founding include the Iron Lords, created to contain the xenos Barghesi in the Grendl Stars; the Imperial Harbingers, from the dark world of Birmingham; and the Steel Cobras, who tragically fell to Chaos after being persecuted by the Ecclesiarchy for their totemic worship of the Emperor. The full scope of the Sentinel Founding remains obscured, but it is believed that even the Celestial Lions may have emerged from this wave of gene-line expansion

The Raven Guard are a First Founding Space Marine Chapter renowned for their mastery of stealth, infiltration, and precision strikes. Descended from Primarch Corvus Corax, they specialize in guerrilla warfare and surgical assaults, striking from the shadows before vanishing without a trace.

Originally the XIX Legion during the Great Crusade, the Raven Guard were united with their Primarch Corax on the moon Deliverance, formerly known as Lycaeus. Corax led a slave uprising there, earning his name as “The Deliverer.” Under his leadership, the Legion adopted a doctrine of speed, stealth, and precision, favouring ambushes and sabotage over frontal assaults. This approach was codified into their combat philosophy and remains central to their identity.

The Raven Guard suffered catastrophic losses during the Drop Site Massacre on Isstvan V in the Horus Heresy, where they were betrayed and nearly annihilated. In desperation, Corax attempted to rebuild the Legion using forbidden gene-seed acceleration techniques, which led to tragic mutations. Haunted by this failure, Corax eventually vanished into the Eye of Terror. Despite these setbacks, the Raven Guard endured, continuing to serve the Imperium as masters of covert warfare. Their warriors are known for their pale skin, dark eyes, and preference for lightning-fast assaults, often wielding lightning claws and operating in Phobos-pattern armour. Today, they remain a symbol of silent vengeance, striking unseen and leaving only death in their wake
